The Bostig v2.0 is an engine conversion system for 83-91 VW vanagons. Far from being just an engine swap kit, the Bostig v2.0 also comprises all of the thought, information, and standardized procedures to make installing one of our conversions the lowest risk highest value option for re-powering your van possible. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. Unique in the marketplace, our approach and philosophy addresses all the links in the chain from initial research and prepurchase information, all the way through to long-term ownership. The v2.0 is a redesign of the original bostig conversion that builds on our continuously improving design and manufacturing capabilities to deliver the simplest, most reliable, most complete and user friendly conversion available. If you can follow basic instructions, you can complete the conversion yourself. We’ve figured out and developed solutions for more aspects of the conversion process than are even recognized by our competition, and as a result we are the only ones building a complete solution to the problem set, and we do so with greater care and precision than anyone in the marketplace. The Bostig v2.0 is the culmination of tens of thousands of hours of engineering, research, testing, manufacturing, operating, and supporting. Since the entire development effort has always been under the ownership and control of a single entity(us) all of the experience and information from every step in the process(including those done by customers) feeds back into development and support efforts. The result is less to learn, less to think about, and less to worry about. The main kit is composed of seven sub-kits(abbreviated SK) that follow a functional and chronological use order for simplicity. Below are some photos of the 7 sub-kits. SK-A, Adapter Sub-kitFrom it's 6061 Adapter with integrated mounting system, to it's billet steel single piece flywheel, the SK-A sets the stage for the rest of the goodness that comes with the Bostig v2.0 SK-C, Cooling Sub-kitWith molded hoses chosen from only the most commonly stocked hoses(as with all of our kit parts), you'll find high parts prices and specialty vendors a thing of the past. SK-M, Mounting Sub-kitThe new rugged chromoly engine cradle & massive hydraulic mounts(sourced from the taurus making them thirty dollars each and found anywhere) keep the powertrain extremely stable while limiting noise, vibration, and harshness( NVH) transfer to the chassis SK-E, Exhaust Sub-kitThe stainless steel exhaust is not only the shortest and simplest exhaust system for vanagons, it's close coupled catalytic converter provides the lowest emissions of any conversion for vanagons on the market SK-I, Intake Sub-kitThe Intake is greatly simplified from the v1.0, and with the new intake design keeps the intake quiet, while providing multiple options for air filter combinations, including interface with the stock snorkel SK-W, Wiring Sub-kitUnique to Bostig, our harness is made from 100% brand new components. Exceeding factory build quality, the harness is built to snap into existing mount points for clean routing, a perfect fit, and long service. No wire splicing needed, fully plug & play SK-In, Install Sub-kitThe Install sub kit replaces the old coolant bottle with a brand new unit, our laser cut CNC bent brackets ensure perfect fitment and a no headache final install step Our engine conversion system was designed around a specific set of goals that address some of the problems of other conversions and offer new benefits to owners. We believe that while there are other engine options out there, and we may not satisfy every owner(we're doubtful for instance that a die-hard diesel fan will consider our option), we will find warm reception by many enthusiasts that have been waiting for one conversion to address all of their concerns about moving to a new engine while providing a system of unparalleled quality of construction and design. Below is the set of primary objectives adopted during development of our conversion, which have become its chief benefits:
