v2.0 List of required parts:
(1) Used Engine: $90 - $650 including freight, or brand new crate engine: $800-$1000, search ebay.
(2) Alternator: $25 - $200
6th group and newer uses a 99 Ford Contour (2.0L DOHC) alternator, 5th group and down uses an 01 Ford Focus (2.0L DOHC) alternator.
(either salvage, new, or high output)
We recommend buying the alternator at a national parts chain like Autozone etc, so warranty replacement is that much easier(no sending it in and waiting for a replacement)should it be required.
(3) Power Steering pump: $25 - $50
Best to buy salvage(4) ECU: $20-$50
Best to buy salvage(5) High pressure fuel line to replace old fuel lines: $30-$75 (make sure it is Fuel Injection(FI) high pressure line, not FI low pressure)
(roughly 18 feet covers the send/retun lines on a 2wd, roughly 8 for a syncro)
(6) Rockauto.com order: $370
(parts that we have historically purchased through them, but it is more cost effective for owners to buy them directly now)
(7) Mass Air Flow Meter/Airbox from 2000-2004 DOHC zetec focus
$25-$45 for MAF, $20-$40 for airbox from salvage yard. Must be cut/modified to fit behind right tailight. (8) Stock vanagon clutch if needed ($150) We recommend the OE Sachs unit over the Luk heavy duty or otherwise. Any of the online vendors in the vanagon community can provide the correct clutch. (9) List of parts needed if crate engine is used instead of salvage, does not apply to salvage/used engines, only new.
