Motor Mount Inspection

We have seen once or twice that the engine mounts shipped were not the correct mounts, although they were in the correct box. Compare your motor mounts to the picture below to make sure they match.

Also be sure to sort your parts from your Rockauto.com order into their respective SK's at this time. Also make sure you have every part you'll need to get started.

If you're doing the new "Crate Engine" thing, be sure to contact Bostig and ask them for the additional ordering list for bringing a crate-engine up-to-speed with a salvage-engine.

For me, this meant:
* Serpentine Engine Assembly (Pulley Mounted to Tension Assembly)
* Idler Pulely
* Thermostat and Housing Assembly
* Ignition Coil
* 2x Locating Pins for the Bostig Adaptor-Plate
* Upper-Metal-Shi m under the Flywheel

Also, this really increases the price of a crate-engine over a salvage one. I think I'll hide that part of the spreadsheet from the significant other. So think twice about a salvage-engine, despite any hatred you might have for their customer-servic e, as these additional costs add to about another 0.

... that dollar amount at the end is two-hundred.

It's about one hundred dollars worth of additional parts(instead of two hundred) if you buy an engine from the dealer in port orange Florida, instead of engines direct. The ones from the guy in Florida have the t-stat housing and coil already. But shipping has to be considered as well.

REPOST: the dollar-sign causes problems...

Shipping from GY:FordParts in Florida was ridiculous at 536 to a residence and 491 to a business, but their engine was 160 cheaper at 840. While they said they would work with other shippers, I couldn't find one that worked with residences.

In the end, I bought mine from Engines Direct in AZ for 1k + 150 shipping, who used R&L Carrier.

Engines Direct (AZ)
===============
1000 + 150 + 200 parts = 1350

GY Ford Parts (FL)
===============
840 + 546 + 100 parts = 1486

There's certainly some money to be saved, if you can work with them and arrange your own carrier and make that all happen.

GY:Ford Parts in FL with your own carrier
================================
840 + 150 (R&L Carriers) + 100 parts = 1090

But honestly, it came down to principle on shipping, my own time and ... maybe a little more emotionally based... my frustration with the local-salvage yards wanting 750 for a 30k engine and refusing to budge. haha.

In the engine_prep_v2 video at 23:45, it refers to removing a clip to expose a nut on a stud, in order to discard a bracket. the video has you put back on the nut and tighten to the "torque-rating on your sheet".

Per Brady on Feb 10, 2010...

...that nut you can torque that down to 13 foot pounds.
