The lowest priced page will have a “*” next to it, start with the least expensive and work back in the pages, the notes sometimes have useful information. Script: " I’m looking for a Power Steering pump for 2004 Ford Focus It’s from the 2.0L non-SVT Dual Over head Cam Engine Is the pulley bent? I can’t use it if the pulley is bent
What’s your name?(Always get the salesperson name and write it down)"
We've observed that roughly 7% of the time yards send the wrong pump(usually from the single overhead cam engines) even if they have it labeled in their systems as a DOHC pump. It is important to mention this scenario casually and ask them how they would handle such a situation. Usually they issue a refund and may or may not want the incorrect pump back.
Bent pulleys are no good since you do not have a good one to swap onto the old pump(which also requires a pulley tool). This is best avoided by asking the yard sales person to double check and make sure the pulley is straight, and ready to use.
Photos of the power steering pump. Below is a pump that has the power steering sensor port, this is less desirable. The open threads in the lower right are where the power steering pressure switch normally goes we do not use this sensor, and the port must be blocked with a sensor or plug before it can be used. Also the hole with the red cap should have the inlet nipple attached, not a red cap! (see photo right). Note the red/orange sticker and cast iron body. The SOHC pump(the incorrect one, not shown) is an aluminum body. |
