The K24z mounting and exhaust system from Bostig allows flexibility, functionality, and protection.  Integrated full protection skidplating for engine and transmission is just the start. The ability to install the K24z engines into 83-91 VW Vanagons with selectable engine decklid rise is both game changing and practical.

The beta program is for folks that don't want to wait to get moving on their install.  The beta provides the mounting and exhaust setup, as well as elevated personal support and assistance in getting it up and running. The beta differs from final products in that there may be changes to existing parts, as well as replacement parts involved. The scope of changes is kept as low as possible after having been finalized in the POC and initial in-house revisions. This beta program is for the 5th revision of the mounting and exhaust system.

The beta mounting and exhaust system will include all of the skidplating, mounting, brackets, downpipe, crosspipe, and hardware. Muffler and muffler isolators are purchased off the shelf.

What to expect as part of the beta:

- drastically lower pricing

- parts months or more before they are otherwise available

- limited documentation, but full support

- minor part modification/alterations

- your voice in the final product

The beta program is for folks that would likely be doing this swap no matter what, and may want to customize it on their own. They don't want to wait to get started, but do want to keep the budget as small as possible.

Purchase of the beta mounting and exhaust system requires acceptance of the beta program terms, an NDA, and a non-compete (sent after order is received).

FAQ

Q: What is the cost to complete the install if I buy the mounting and exhaust system?

A: DIYing the beta is *the* cheapest way to get into a K24z period. The additional finished cost with a K24z2/3 can start as low as $6,000. The first Bostig K24z install as is stands now was done for another $6500 of off the shelf parts (yes, everything, including the engine).

Q: Are you going to be offering a full kit?

A: Yes!  As well as turnkeys.  Expect pricing for the full kits to be in the $9500 range. Turnkeys in the $15k range. Most of the parts are simply bought from a list, and you're paying us engineering rates to order, pack, and ship them (twice). Once the beta is over, the next run of parts will be the retail system.

Q: Is the K24z cali legal?

A: Because of the choice of engine and our exhaust design, it is possible to run *both* CA legal catalytic converters and not delete any emissions system components. This means it is possible to get a BAR ref to allow it (there's never a guarantee). If we have enough interest, pursuing a CARB EO which we have experience doing,  is also an option (which would provide the guarantee).

Q: Will the angle changes of the engine and transmission affect syncro driveline angles?

A: Yes, as with any driveshaft the angles should match to prevent torsional vibrations and shorten joint life. This can be accomplished with both the front diff angle, and the transmission. The Bostig mounting system also allows the front transmission mount to be relocated from the body to the front plate, and from hanging, to supported from underneath.

Q: Is there an upgrade path for Bostig Zetec customers to the Honda?

A: Yes, however it isn't a hardware compatibility that allows it. We will be offering a trade in program. Since the most expensive custom parts for the Zetec are either non-wearable or serviceable, we'll offer refurbished Zetec kits to customers looking to get into a Zetec for less money, that can offset the cost of the Honda for existing customers. No other vendor entertains any such idea.

Q: What is the ground clearance?

A: On the shop syncro with 27.9" tires, it's 7.5" with no decklid lift, to 11.5" with a full lift. And that's at the skidplate, which can be hit... *not* at an oilpan.
