FAQ

Q: What is the cost to complete the install if I buy the mounting and exhaust system?

A: DIYing is *the* cheapest way to get into a K24z. The additional finished cost with a K24z2/3 can start as low as $6,700. The first Bostig K24z install as it stands now was actually done for $6500(yes, everything, including the engine).

Q: Are you going to be offering a full kit?

A: Not this season, but perhaps next. We will be offering installs however, email us or call if you're interested.  Most of the parts are simply bought from a list, and you're paying us engineering rates to order, pack, and ship them (twice). This is why we encourage DIY!

Q: Is the K24z cali legal?

A: Not yet, but it's getting closer! Because of the choice of engine and our exhaust design, it is possible to run *both* CA legal catalytic converters and not delete any emissions system components. This means it is possible to get a BAR ref to allow it (there's never a guarantee). If we have enough interest, pursuing a CARB EO (which we have experience doing) is also an option (which would provide the guarantee). But there is currently no plan for this.

Q: Will the angle changes of the engine and transmission affect syncro driveline angles?

A: Yes. As with any driveshaft, the angles should match to prevent torsional vibrations and shorten joint life. This can be accomplished with both the front diff angle, and the transmission. The Bostig mounting system can also allow the front transmission mount to be relocated from the body to the front plate, and from hanging, to supported from underneath which lends to further adjustability.

Q: Is there an upgrade path for Bostig Zetec customers to the Honda?

A: Yes, however it isn't a hardware compatibility that allows it. We will be offering a trade in program. Since the most expensive custom parts for the Zetec are either non-wearable or serviceable, we'll offer refurbished Zetec kits to customers looking to get into a Zetec for less money, that can offset the cost of the Honda for existing customers. No other vendor entertains any such idea.

Q: What is the ground clearance?

A: On the shop syncro with 27.9" tires, it's 7.5" with no decklid lift, to 11.5" with a full lift. And that's at the skidplate, which can be hit... *not* at an oilpan.
